Shortlisted in seven categories at the esteemed Federation of Wholesale Distribution Gold Medals, Bidvest Foodservice has walked away with four Gold Medals at a glittering black-tie ceremony held at the HAC Royal Artillery Gardens (26th November). Bidvest itself took gold awards for ‘Wholesale Service to Caterers’ and ‘Green Wholesaler of the Year’, whilst individual team members were awarded ‘Delivered Wholesale Driver’ and ‘Delivered Depot Manager’.
Widely regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the food and drink wholesale sector, the FWD Gold Medals are the ultimate recognition of the individuals, teams, products, and initiatives that make the sector what it is. Judged by a panel of FWD’ Associate Members and hosted by comedian and actor, Tim Vine, the event was attended by 820 industry members.
CSR initiatives such as introducing a team of sustainability co-ordinators and launching a new green initiative uniting the hospitality industry’s major players (www.plate2planet.co.uk), were cited as just a few of the reasons why the company took the ‘Green Wholesaler of the Year’ Award. Whilst its efforts to support customers in national schemes such as the introduction of Universal Infant Free School Meals saw it awarded the ‘Wholesale Service to Customers’ Gold Medal.
Dave McRostie, driver at Bidvest Foodservice’s Bicester depot, who was awarded Gold Medal for the ‘Delivered Wholesale Driver’ category, was praised by judges for living and breathing service excellence, making it his mission to ensure deliveries are accurate and arrive at a time to suit each customer.
Recognised for her work in transforming the Birmingham depot, Julie Tidy came up trumps, winning the Gold Medal for the ‘Delivered Depot Manager’ category. Julie’s efforts have seen the depot become the single most profitable in Bidvest Foodservice’s whole estate of 24 depots (rocketing from sixth to first place over the last five years).
Andrew Selley, chief executive at Bidvest Foodservice says: “It’s a real honour to be awarded four Gold Medals at this year’s FWD’s and we’re extremely proud of Dave McRostie and Julie Tidy for winning their categories and beating off some serious competition. It demonstrates our passion and drive to be the best foodservice provider in the Industry. Our customers are the key to our success and we pride ourselves on being able to deliver service excellence to them.”
