Welcome to Lee Mill depot
Proud to serve the South West Lee Mill is situated on the A38 just north of Plymouth in Devon, operating from one of Bidfood’s older sites which has been developed over the last 50 years. Being the site furthest West in England we service roughly an 80 mile radius from the depot this takes in Lands End in the far west, Ilfracombe in North Devon up to Bridgwater Somerset and across to Portland Dorset in the East of our region.
As we are relatively remote from other depots we stock around 6,000 lines in our chilled, frozen and ambient warehouse, supported with nightly links to other hub depots so that we can access the full range of products offered by Bidfood for next day delivery Monday to Saturday.
Local products and suppliers
At Bidfood we are passionate in our demand for great food so that we can provide you with the best quality foods, flavours and ingredients sourced both locally and from around the world. We work closely with our suppliers all of whom are as passionate about food as we are. Many of our suppliers have inspiring stories of how they have built their businesses staying true to their provenance and using the same authentic ingredients and proven processes today as when they started. These can be seen in our Food for the South West brochure launched in March 2018.
Providing the best choice in the market to meet your individual requirements and help develop and grow your business products is part of our key ingredients. Our dedicated team are available to offer a wide choice of great food for your menus, across well-known brands and our awarding winning own brand, plus, provide industry insights and market leading deals so you can create stunning food for your customers all at competitive prices.
Engaging with our local community
We are proud of our links to the local community of the 180 people working at Lee Mill 155 live within a 10 mile radius of the depot, many of who have worked here for over 10 years and in a couple of cases over 30 years.
Additionally we have assisted a number of local charities. Call South West a small, local charity created to raise funds to help and provide communication aids for speech impaired people in Plymouth and West Devon. Over the last two years raising £4,600 for the charity, including producing a Lee Mill Charity Calendar.
Lee Mill supports the Devon & Cornwall Food Association, a charity that collects good short dated produce to distribute to multiple charities. All of our damaged bags of sugar are donated to a local beekeeping group to help sustain local hives by supplementing their food source.
We have also supported Veterans in Action fundraising by providing refreshments at waypoints along a 12 mile round trip hike, starting and ending in Princetown.
In 2016 we won an Environmental Award for our activities to reduce waste, increase recycling, reduce carbon footprint, and become fully economical with our use of water and power. We are very proud of the fact that we send zero waste to landfill.
