Festive dining trends and insights for restaurants

Christmas 2025 is shaping up to be a season of renewed consumer confidence and increased dining out, with consumers prioritising experience, indulgence, value and social occasions.

59.5% of consumers ate out during the 2025 festive period (8 weeks ending 5th January 2025), a 1.8% rise compared to 2024.
25-34 year olds drove spending on eating out market occasions during the festive period, representing 23.2% of festive diners.
8 in 10 consumers plan to dine out and indulge during the festive period.
30.6% foodservice visits during the festive period were for dinner occasions, followed by closely by lunch and drink led visits.
