- Use a frying pan, skillet, or plancha as your cooking surface on a hot heat.
- Place the meaty balls in the pan, season with salt and pepper, sprinkle liberally with the sliced paper-thin onions and smash them flat with a large spatula.
- Once the onions are caramelising and a bit of moisture is showing on the top of the patty, give them a flip and brush on the American yellow mustard – elevating to the upper echelons of tasty town. Do the same for the other side. Just a light layer works as you want to cook the mustard into the patty.
- Top with the cheese, and watch it melt!
- Next up, toast your buns! I’ve chosen an Americana Gourmet Brioche Bun here as it is perfect for this ultimate cheeseburger.
- Now prepare for the build. Start with a mayo base, followed by finely chopped iceberg lettuce. Next, place the patties on the bed of lettuce. Top with the crispy bacon, a couple of pickle slices and a squirt of ketchup. Bring the tang!! No need to go with more mustard as you already cooked it into the patty.
