- Start by toasting the lid and base of your Americana Grill-Marked Burger Bun—get them warm and golden because a good burger deserves a solid foundation.
- Spread a good dollop of burger sauce on the base bun. Don't be shy, the saucier, the better.
- Pile on some freshly sliced lettuce for that crunch factor.
- Now, time to get serious with the burgers. If you're feeling fancy, squeeze some uncooked balls of fatty mince in 6oz balls (higher the fat, the better it will hold together!), throw them in a hot pan, and smash them flat with something heavy like a saucepan. Or, cheat a little and snag some ready-made smashed burgers from your supplier
- Cook your burgers for 6–8 minutes, flipping once. Make sure there’s no pink left!
- Once cooked, place one burger on the lettuce and crown it with a slice of cheese.
- Then stack on the second burger and, you guessed it, another slice of cheese. Double the layers, double the joy.
- Top it all off with some sliced gherkins and freshly fried onions. These are the toppings that separate the pros from the amateurs.
- For the final flourish: slather or squeeze some more burger sauce on the lid of the bun. Pop the lid on top, and voilà!
