Food waste burger

Tasty burger made using up key food waste ingredients, served with a cheese sauce and Cajun and maple chips.

Ingredients

For the burger
Farmstead minced beef 1000g
Garlic powder 10g
Salt 7g
Black pepper 7g
Carrots 100g
Parsnips 100g
Spring onion 0.2 pce
Medium eggs 1 pce
Iceberg lettuce 1 pce
Plum tomatoes 200g
Premium Selection brioche burger buns 4.5" 10
Sliced pickled gherkins 200g
Tomato ketchup 100 ml
French's American mustard 100ml
For the cheese sauce
Whole milk 150ml
Grated mild coloured cheddar 150g
Grated mature white cheddar 150g
Cooking salt 3g
For the Cajun and maple chips
Everyday Favourites coated medium cut fries skin off 11mm 1250g
Everyday Favourites Cajun spice 20g
Everyday Favourites Pure Canadian maple syrup 20g

Method

For the burger
  1. Place the mince into a bowl and add in the garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  2. Grate the carrot and parsnip, finely slice the spring onion and place into the bowl with the mince (you can use any vegetable instead of using the carrot, parsnip and spring onion.)
  3. Crack the egg into the bowl with the mince and mix well. once mixed well dived into 10 patty and set aside.
  4. Pre heat the grill onto a medium to high heat.
  5. Slice the tomato and lettuce and set aside.
  6. Cook the burgers. until golden brown and cooked in the middle.
  7. Toast the bun.
  8. Assemble the burger. place the bottom bun onto a tray place the cooked burger on follow by the tomato, gherkins and lettuces, on the top bun place the ketchup and mustard on the bun, place the top bun on the burger and serve.
For the cheese sauce
  1. Place the milk, cheese and salt into a sauce place. Place onto the stove top on a low heat to gentle heat. Mix well, don't leave it, as it can burn quickly.
  2. Once the cheese has all melted then serve.
For the Cajun and maple chips
  1. Pre heat the oven or deep fat fryer to 180c.
  2. Place the chip into the oven or deep fat fryer, until golden brown. place the chips into a bowl and add the Cajun spice and mix well.
  3. Place the chips into the serving dish. just before serving pour over the maple syrup.
