Transport Route Planner – Salisbury

This is an exciting time to be part of Bidfood. With a number of teams and depots within our network working together, we deliver service excellence to our customers via over 1,500 deliveries each week! At Bidfood we value our people and recognize the amazing work they do by supporting their development now and into the future. We want to have passionate people working with us in Salisbury who are ready for their next exciting challenge!

We are seeking a Route Planner to assist the Transport Managers in ensuring that the drivers are routed and scheduled in the most efficient way whilst delivering service excellence.

At Bidfood Salisbury, we recognise that the quality of our Transport team is instrumental to our success. You will be responsible for the planning of routes for drivers coming out of our Salisbury depot, maximising cases per vehicle and managing the volume of cases per vehicle.

You will work closely with the Transport Managers to ensure that all routing and planning complies with drivers working hours and any customer requirements, ensuring that the drivers are delivering service excellence to our customers.

You will need to plan the order of deliveries according to agreed timescales, taking into consideration any customer requirements. You will also need a good awareness of legal requirements such as working time directive so that the routes can be planned to accommodate this.

You will be responsible for responding to urgent changes in customer requirements, adapting routes as required. The Route Planner will need to be adaptable and find solutions to problems as they arrive.

To be successful in this role you will have similar experience of working within a transport department, particularly within a FMCG company or ideally within the food distribution industry. You will be an effective communicator with strong organisation skills and a keen eye for detail. You will need excellent geographical knowledge of the Wiltshire/Hampshire/Dorset areas, with the ability to work well under pressure.

If this is you, we look forward to hearing from you.
