This week, local foodservice provider, Bidfood in Bicester, donated over 50 children’s Christmas presents to the Trussell Trust’s Bicester foodbank, to help bring festive cheer to children in need this Christmas. During December, employees at the Bidfood depot came together to collect a variety of children’s toys, games and arts and crafts as part of their Giving Tree Christmas appeal. The festive appeal has encouraged all Bicester employees to buy a special gift for a young child of a certain age and gender, selected from a name tag off the depot’s decorated Christmas ‘Giving Tree’. Talking about the appeal, Steve Jones, General Manager at Bidfood’s Bicester depot said: “Christmas is a time for giving and sharing, the team here at our Bicester depot really wanted to support those who need it most at this time of year, by giving back to the local community. “We all get so wrapped up in our own festive plans during Christmas, it is so easy to forget that there are too many people around the country who won’t be enjoying Christmas in the same way. This is why myself and the team, felt it was so important for us to do our bit to try and make it a little more special for those who find this time of year tough.” Bidfood’s Bicester depot has been supporting their local Trussell Trust foodbank for a number of years now, donating a variety of food and drink to help charity provide for those in need; this includes everything from pasta and rice, to fresh meats and snacks. This year they have donated five tonnes of food and drink to support the project, equating to over 12,000 meals.
