Apprentice Payroll Officer, Chepstow BSC

A role has arisen for an Apprentice Payroll Officer to join our HRSS Team, based in Chepstow. This is initially a Fixed Term contract for one year.

The role of the Apprentice Payroll Officer is to support the Payroll Team and the business with ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time, supporting the Shared Services strategy to offer an efficient and professional service to its internal customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The administration of the payroll for a group of employees, ensuring all payments made are in accordance with statutory regulations and the Company contractual rules
  • Dealing with routine enquiries regarding pay matters queries efficiently and thoroughly (queries may involve those from employees, managers, HMRC, Department of Social Security, courts, banks, building societies, unions and internal departments)
  • Replying to routine correspondence
  • Delivering Payroll transactional processes in line with standards and targets
  • Inputting information and cleansing information in order to maintain the Payroll & HR System
  • Maintaining electronic and hard copy employee files
  • Assist the with other duties and projects as required

To be successful in the role you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate strong Computer/IT skills including an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including 2010
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Have confidence when undertaking tasks and check when unsure
  • Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate strong organisation and prioritisation skills

Previous experience working within Payroll and a Payroll qualification would be advantageous.
