Free trade business development chef

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Free Trade Northern sales teams where you can inspire our external customers with the development of food solutions that meet their needs and drive their growth. At the same time building capability, knowledge and confidence throughout the internal sales community in the North.

In the role of Free Trade Development Chef you will be required to support in the development, sourcing and demonstration of relevant menu and food solutions that deliver what is important to all our customers, across our independent and undisciplined customer base. Strong interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to interact at all levels of a given hierarchy. Skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and the ability to utilise market insight data relevant to our customers are essential.

Some examples of the role responsibilities are: educating Bidvest sales teams on food solutions that will enable them to inspire their customers across all product categories: supporting the activities of the food development team with customer presentations and menu and product development activity whilst maintaining continual customer focus; supporting category and customer strategies through insight, recipes, opportunities and innovative food solutions, in addition to developing our Scottish offering.

To be successful in this role you will need to be challenging of yourself and others, be flexible to the ever changing foodservice landscape, creative, inspirational, organized and enthusiastic.  You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, proven experience in a commercial kitchen environment, excellent culinary and food presentation skills coupled with the ability to present in a way that wins the hearts and minds of your audience whether they are chefs or directors!  You will be articulate and a good communicator (written and verbal), passionate about food and commercially aware with the ability to fully cost menus.

To ensure the role provides the maximum benefit to Bidfood the successful candidate will have a dotted line to Ben Woodhouse to ensure they are completely up to speed with Bidfoods ambitions and food trends.

Applicants who are invited for interview will attend a 1st stage business interview, the successful candidate from 1st stage would then be expected to perform a cooking skills presentation at one of our development sites.

A full clean driving licence is required as is the ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.
