Supporting communities during Covid-19

We’re proud that our employees have pulled together to deliver the key essentials that hospitals, care homes and other customers who are on the front line fighting the virus have needed during the pandemic.

We’ve also worked hard to play our role in keeping people safe and supporting our communities across the UK. Here are some examples of the ways we’ve done this:

Donations to the NHS

Behind the scenes we’ve teamed up with a number of suppliers (including Mars, Nestle, Squash Stix, Can’O’Water and Hippeas) to put a smile on the faces of staff in the NHS donating more than 50,000 Easter eggs, 16,000 Vit Stix (liquid vitamin portions), water and snacks to frontline NHS workers.

Meals in Manchester

We also worked closely with Manchester United FC, to deliver over 60,000 meals, cooked up by their chefs at Old Trafford, to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.

Supporting the Nightingale hospitals

We worked with customers to rapidly mobilise supply to the staff accommodation site at the new Nightingale hospital, in the London Excel Centre, and to provide food for NHS employees, patients and the blue light teams at the Nightingale hospital, in Manchester’s Central Convention Complex.

Opening our doors to the public

We transformed our business model almost overnight to offer consumers home delivery and click and collect services, providing an alternative food shopping option in a secure and safe environment, for people who were concerned about visiting supermarkets.
