Transport Supervisor – Hoddesdon

We have an opportunity within our highly efficient Transport Department at our Hoddesdon depot. As part of our team you’ll fill an essential role in helping us achieve our targets by delivering the right products to our customers on time.

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing the day to day operation of the Transport Department, ensuring driver departure and return is managed, and additional deliveries allocated where necessary. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all reported vehicle defects are actioned promptly and ensure Company Health and Safety procedures are carried out and that all drivers adhere to driving legislation at all times. You will be responsible for maintaining holiday and manpower levels to ensure the service level to our customers is maintained. In addition you will deal with both internal and external customers and manage any employee issues when required.

Accountabilities

  1. Ensure costs are kept within the agreed budgets
  2. Ensure Company assets, people, stock, cages, pallets etc are controlled and accounted for at all times
  3. Ensure compliance of Food Safety, Health and Safety regulations, and Company procedures at all times
  4. To ensure that Safe Systems of Work and risk assessments are carried out as and when required
  5. Manage and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the fleet
  6. Remedial action plans for areas which have been identified through audits, reviews or observations that require attention
  7. To effectively manage all subordinates within the Transport department to ensure they are trained and have the skill set and knowledge required to carry out their jobs
  8. To consistently drive improvements standards within the department to deliver customer satisfaction expectation
  9. Ensure all shifts are covered and completed in a high standard

Requirements

  1. Food background, CPC and HGV licence are desirable but not essential.
  2. Experience of a fast moving distribution environment
  3. Effective planning, communication and IT skills
  4. Experience of route planning
  5. Experience of working effectively within a team to provide good customer service
  6. Experience of effective people management
  7. Experience of managing a multi-drop Transport department
  8. Work with and monitor third party VMU
