Transport Supervisor – Bradford

We have an opportunity within our highly efficient Transport Department. As part of our team you’ll fill an essential role in helping us achieve our targets by delivering the right products to our customers on time.

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing the day to day operation of the Transport Department, ensuring drivers departure and return is managed and additional deliveries allocated where necessary.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that all reported vehicle defects are actioned promptly. You will ensure Company Health and Safety procedures are carried out and that all drivers adhere to driving legislation at all times. Your role will also be responsible for maintaining holiday and manpower levels to ensure the service level to our customers is maintained. You will, in addition, have the ability to deal with both internal and external customers and also deal with any employee issues when required.


  1. Ensure Cost are kept within the agreed budgets
  2. Ensure Company assets, people, stock, cages, pallets etc. are controlled and accounted for at all times
  3. Ensure compliance of Food Safety, Health and safety regulations, and company procedures at all times
  4. All paper work is completed to audit standard
  5. To ensure that Safe Systems or Work, risk assessments are carried out as and when required
  6. Manage and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the fleet
  7. Ensure that all times the fleet is managed against current legislation
  8. Remedial action plans for areas which have been identified through audits, reviews or observations that require attention
  9. To effectively manage all subordinates within the Transport department to ensure they are trained and have the skill set and knowledge required to carry out their jobs
  10. To consistently drive improvements standards within the department to deliver customer satisfaction expectation
  11. Ensuring customer service satisfaction
  12. All shifts are covered and completed in a high standard


  1. Food background not essential but would help
  2. HGV licence not essential but would help
  3. Experience of a fast moving distribution environment
  4. Effective planning and communication skills
  5. Fall into any role within the department if required
  6. Experience in route planning
  7. Experience of working effectively within a team to provide good customer service
  8. Evidence of effective people supervision
  9. IT literacy is at a very good standard
  10. Cost management and able to work within tight budgetary controls.
  11. Be professional, inspirational and motivational leader of people.
  12. Be a team player enabling best practice to provide solutions.
  13. Day to Day supervision of a busy multi-drop transport department
  14. Work with and monitor 3rd party VMU
  15. Transport Supervisor role is based on 5/7 shifts
  16. Weekend work involved
  17. Mid shift hours
