Transport Shift Supervisor – Slough

There’s every chance you’ll have eaten our food, so why not share our success and come and work for us? Bidfood is a leading wholesale food distributor and the preferred supplier for over 60,000 customers across the UK, ranging from pubs to schools, from restaurants to care homes and everything in between.

From Lands End to John O’Groats, whether our customers want just a teaspoon or a full range of catering supplies, we’ll supply their needs. We work as a team to provide every food option from quality ingredients to finished meals, including a number of own brand ranges as well as all the big brands and regional specialties. We believe in our food, and we know that our people behind the scenes are so very important in our success.

At Bidfood, we recognise that the quality of our Transport team is instrumental to our success. Our Transport Shift Supervisors are responsible for running the daily Transport Operation from the start of the working day when the Drivers are dispatched to managing the returns and debrief process at the end of the day and all that happens in-between.

You will also oversee the longer term Transport activities including recruiting, inducting, training, mentoring and engaging with the teams, to inspire them to be the best they can be.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that all reported vehicle defects are actioned promptly. You will ensure Company Health & Safety procedures are carried out and that all Drivers adhere to driving legislation at all times. Your role will also be responsible for maintaining holiday and manpower levels to ensure the service level to our customers is maintained. You will, in addition, have the ability to deal with both internal and external customers and also deal with any employee issues when required.

You will be computer literate, have excellent communication skills, and be an approachable team player.

To be successful in this role you’ll have very strong people management and development skills and be able to build strong relationships with other departments. You will also have experience in managing vehicle and driver compliance to ensure the department maintains the expected legal standards.

Benefits

Shift allowance, pension, 25 days holiday pa, healthcare cash plan, childcare vouchers, personal accident scheme, employee discounts.
