Transport Router – Lee Mill

What does this mean for you?

At Bidfood, we recognise that the quality of our Transport teams is instrumental to our success. Your primary task will be to plan all daily delivery routes effectively and efficiently in a view to complying with strict delivery windows whilst maximising drivers’ working time and supporting customer satisfaction and experience.

A bit about the role

As the Transport Router you will also work closely with the Transport Supervisors to ensure all routing and planning, drivers’ hours and holidays are all covered and the department is run effectively.

You must be skilled and proficient in all aspects of routing and planning including use of MS Office applications and planning software, ideally you will have knowledge of the Working Time Directive and Drivers Hours Legislation. Previous experience working in a fast paced Transport department will be an advantage. Ability to use initiative, problem solving skills, team working ability and strong work ethic will are also desirable.

You should be able to meet KPIs and be able to work with little supervision. An important KPI will be to achieve a net reduction in distances travelled through more efficient routing and planning.

Shift pattern will be primarily Mon-Fri, 15:00 – 23:30 after initial induction and training although contracted hours may change due to business needs therefore a flexible approach to work is required.

A bit about you

You will need to be customer focused and have excellent communication skills as you will work closely with internal departments, including customer service, telesales and business development managers in order to achieve customer service based KPIs.

Effective teamwork within the Transport Department will be key to ensuring all routes are planned to maximise cases per vehicle in line with the Depot budgeted KPI. You will also need to deal with drivers on a daily basis to make sure that they are involved with routing and planning activities and to make use of their local knowledge.
