From Lands End to John O’Groats, our Drivers will deliver great food and other catering products to a huge range of customers across the region, whether our customers want just a teaspoon or a full range of catering supplies, we’ll supply their needs. We work as a team to provide every food option from quality ingredients to finished meals, including a number of own brand ranges as well as all the big brands and regional specialties. We believe in our food, and we know that our people behind the scenes are so very important in our success.

At Bidfood, we recognise that the quality of our Transport teams is instrumental to our success. We are currently looking for a Transport Manager to join our Transport Team in our Manchester depot. Reporting into the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading the operations of the Transport department in line with Finance targets and legal compliance whilst achieving best possible level of service to internal and external Customers, delivered through effective, engaging and motivational leadership.

You will be able to lead a team and create an engaging environment encouraging direct reports to drive performance through a balanced approach of recognition and managing performance against agreed KPI’s.

You will set clear expectations for your team including KPI, safety and team behaviours, setting annual objectives and ensuring your direct reports hold the relevant skills to effectively manage their teams.

You’ll be a strong communicator, able to communicate with people at all levels including different departments and the Depot leadership team, as well as delivering and managing briefs to the team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring full departmental compliance through regular monitoring of all QHSE, Fleet and Sustainability standards, focussing on team wellbeing in accordance with the relevant policies.

To be successful in this role you’ll have very strong people management and development skills and be able to consistently apply HR standards specifically around recruitment, absence management, performance, conduct, safety and service. You’ll be confident in analysing and utilising data from various relevant systems such as Optac, Paragon, Driver App and our employee self-serve system in order to drive improvement and service excellence.

With previous experience of managing a fast-moving food distribution environment, preferably from a multi-drop, multi-temperature foodservice business, you will also have good computer literacy skills, a full understanding of Transport legislation and be flexible in order to meet the needs of the business.
