Specifications technologist – Slough BSC

The role is primarily supporting the category food technologists with responsibility for existing and new own brand product specifications and artwork portfolio; ensuring all new products are launched on time with accurate technical information maintained.

As a member of the wider technical services team you will be required to provide support and advice to maintain food safety, legality and quality of the Bidfood product portfolio through interdepartmental, external supplier and customer liaison.

The role accountabilities

  • Guardians of safety, quality and legality of a portfolio of products in accordance with the Bidfood quality management systems.
  • Ensure multiple projects are delivered on time and to the technical standards required.
  • Customer, third party professional & trade body liaison/interaction.
  • Supporting category technologists with provision of technical and process information as required.
  • Provide technical information for site and supplier audits and any queries from customers.
  • Screening of all supplier technical specifications.
  • Approving product artwork and marketing collateral generated ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications, legislation and Bidfood own brand requirements.
  • Ensuring all own brand products have agreed quality attribute sheets completed.
  • As a custodian of product and supplier information review product specifications, artwork and other technical documents to enable approval of new products or product changes, in accordance with project launch timelines whilst maintaining product information integrity and accuracy.
  • Support suppliers on specification completion/writing when the need arises.

The candidate

  • Food science or technology degree.
  • In-depth knowledge working on web-based specifications systems with a minimum 2 years experience in recipe management, nutrition calculations and ingredient declarations.
  • Good communication and influencing skills – oral and written.
  • Proven planning & organising skills with the ability to manage projects.
  • Experience in legal labeling checks.
