Bidfood is a leading wholesale food distributor and the preferred supplier for over 60,000 customers across the UK. The shared services department within finance encompasses the accounts payable,  accounts receivable and cash management teams who are directly responsible for efficient cash flow management. The team is based in our Scarisbrick site.

The Head of Finance – Shared Services is responsible for leading the department in managing and controlling all aspects of working capital.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the accounts receivable team with a focus on minimising DSO and reducing bad debt while offering a first class service to the sales team and their customers
• Overseeing the new account process, ensuring the right level of risk is undertaken whilst providing an excellent service to our customers
• Manage the relationship with our trade credit insurers, ensuring Bidfood’s credit exposure is minimised in line with the insurance policy and our corporate governance requirements
• Leading the accounts payable team, with a focus on maximising DPO whilst working alongside the commercial team’s requirements.
• Ownership of the statement reconciliation process ensuring accurate and timely controls are put in place
• Management of the Finance Services team covering daily bank reconciliations, maintenance of bank accounts and daily payments. You will ensure prompt and effective cash management leading to accurate and timely cash flow forecasting
• Consistently reviewing the systems and processes used in the Shared Services departments to ensure we are managing our working capital as efficiently and effectively as possible
• You will set the working capital forecasts and budgets and drive your team to deliver results with particular focus on half-year and year end

The key to success in this role is the development of internal relationships and being able to effectively communicate with both Finance and Non-Finance individuals. You will have significant experience of managing AP and AR functions in your previous roles.

You will be a qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACA / ACCA) and you will be able to provide examples of your commitment to Service Excellence.

You will demonstrate a proven track record of process improvement and change management.
