Following the ongoing challenges care homes have faced as a result of Covid-19, one of the UK’s leading foodservice providers, Bidfood, has launched a 12 days of Christmas guide comprising a range of recipes and activity ideas to bring some much-needed cheer this Christmas.
Recognising that the current restrictions may mean a number of residents will be unable to celebrate with loved ones this year, Bidfood wanted to provide care homes with ideas and inspiration to keep spirits up at this festive time.
Based around the English carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas, the guide features a number of delicious recipes that link in to each of the days in the song. From spiced honey turtle dove biscuits to pavlova swans, sticky cranberry drumsticks and even a leaping lords cocktail!
To keep the spirit of Christmas alive throughout the guide, each day’s recipe has been linked to an activity idea. Whether that’s decorating the care home and turning on the Christmas lights, writing letters to loved ones, putting on a cosy Christmas movie night or even printing out some classic carol sheets and having a sing-a-long with residents, the guide is there to inject some much-needed Christmas cheer at a time where we could all use it.
Speaking about the guide, Georgina Triniman, Customer and Channel Marketing Executive said: “It’s been a difficult year for everyone, but for those who are shielding in care homes and have been unable to see their loved ones for the best part of 2020, this has been particularly hard hitting.
“We want to help our care home customers get into the festive spirit and spread some cheer to their residents who deserve it most. We really hope that this guide provides some useful hints and tips, and some delicious menu ideas to try too!”
The guide is available on the Bidfood Christmas 2020 page
