Bidvest Foodservice donates insulated clothing

Bidvest Foodservice is helping to keep people in need warm this winter, after the company donated more than 60 pieces of specially insulated clothing and 20 pairs of boots to a number of Salvation Army branches across the country this week.

The donated clothing, which includes jackets and salopettes, is used in the company’s freezers and can keep employees warm in temperatures as low as -24°C.

Representatives from a number of Bidvest Foodservice depots including Wakefield, Paddock Wood and Stowmarket personally delivered the clothing to their local Salvation Army and discussed ways in which they can work more closely with the charity in the future.

Bidvest Foodservice has also planned further donations from depots including Cannock and Gateshead, over the coming weeks.

Norman Wemyss, Chief Operating Officer, Bidvest Foodservice said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with The Salvation Army, by donating specialist cold weather clothing to help those most in need.

“Many of our depots already regularly work with The Salvation Army, by giving food and volunteering their own time and we are delighted to be able to offer clothing as well.

“I am really keen for this initiative to be rolled out across more of our depots and it’s great to know that everything we can donate will be put to really good use.”

Over the Christmas period, Bidvest Foodservice’s Paddock Wood depot also donated 10 turkeys and two boxes of Christmas crackers to their local Salvation Army in Sittingbourne, to feed those who may not have otherwise had a Christmas dinner.
