Bidvest Foodservice Scotland is thrilled to launch two new and exciting Scottish products, haggis ravioli and haggis gnocchi, ahead of Burns Night.
The Scottish foodservice provider has encouraged suppliers, Macsween and La Tua Pasta, to work together to create an innovative product that promotes the traditional Scottish dish.
Award-winning Macsween is a third-generation family-run business based in Edinburgh and a pioneer of Scotland’s national dish, haggis. UK producer of authentic handmade pasta, La Tua Pasta, is renowned for its quality and consistency.
Katie Sillars, Business Development Manager at Bidvest Foodservice Scotland said: “We love finding new ways to collaborate and innovate for our customers and we pride ourselves on bringing suppliers together to create unique products that are both new to market, and traditionally Scottish.
“The Macsween haggis ravioli and gnocchi is a modern twist on a much loved Scottish favourite and this market-first will offer chefs a way of driving more customers through their doors. We’re also delighted that both products fit within the scoring system at Visit Scotland’s Taste our Best accreditation, as the haggis is the main component within the dish.”
The products are supplied frozen and can be cooked (steamed, boiled or even deep fried) in just 3 to 5 minutes, and have a 17-month shelf life, which will help chefs control waste.
James Macsween, Managing Director, Macsween, said: “We’re passionate about making haggis easy to use across more meal occasions, and working with La Tua Pasta was an obvious choice. These dishes taste amazing and offer a great lunch or dinner option with a difference.”
The haggis ravioli and gnocchi are the perfect menu item for Burns Night as an appetiser, starter or main dish.
